WKTM MI YUMMY

I made the mistake of being to busy to post this in time, even though I wanted to do this a week ago, I'm sorry my bad. :-( None the less the Warhol and Watts fund raiser went down at Pharmaka Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Pharmaka is a non profit art gallery on Gallery Row. Its exact location is 101 W 5th St at the corner of Main St. They teamed up with a non profit in Watts called Urban Compass. They guide youth from a very young age into the arts and off of the streets. May 9 Pharmaka hosted a special historical exhibition called Warhol and Watts. Richard Weisman allowed his collection of Warhol's Athlete Series to be displayed along side art work from the students at Urban Compass. Both organizations are heavily dependent on contributions from good people like yourselves, so if you can donate to both of their causes.

SOME THROW BACK ART RAN ACROSS MY MIND THIS WEEK AND I STARTED LONGING FOR THE SIGHTS OF A OTTO NEALS PAINTING I HAD SEEN ONCE YEARS AGO AT A GALLERY IN CHELSEA. I COULD NOT FIND THAT PIECE ON LINE BUT I DID FIND SOME OTHER GOOD GOOD.
THE FIRST PIECE IS TITLED ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES AND IS A COLLAGE AND THE SECOND IS A LOVE SUPREME WHICH IS ACRYLIC.

Romare Bearden is one of my favorite painters, he and Alma Thomas always are neck in neck in my favorite book. Rommie makes Yummy because last night I walked into some one's house and saw some of his stuff hanging on their walls. This made me think how one artist can inspire many people in different ways. My mini epiphany also came after having a deep thoughtful conversation with a 10 year old boy on Kanye West, and how his favorite song was also my favorite song, "Family Business" we both agreed this is the best song he has released to date. Though I was intrigued that the same song meant a great deal to us in our own respective ways I realized Rommie is the same way. I deeply love his water colors. Their are things about his life that startle and fascinate, like his devotion and affection for cats but his soulful artistic style makes up for it all.
